Week #3 - Habits for Success

Behavior review.

As week #3 comes to a close, I am finding that taking Navy showers has become a habit for me as of now.  I find that as I was already showering every day taking shorter showers has come relatively easily to me.  Because of this, I feel that my behavior to reduce my environmental impact has been relatively successful for me.  I find that the fact that I will have to take navy showers in the military inspires me to continue the building of my habit as I know that I will have to create it one way or another.  Through this fact, I find that I am doing this habit daily thus making it easier and easier every day.

How habits are created.

1. One habit that I have tried to develop other than taking shorter showers is speaking concisely.  I am still working on this habit because it is a constant struggle for me but I have been working on getting my point across quicker.

2. The habit of taking navy showers did not take me very long to develop.  I would say that it took me about a week or two to get into the habit as showering is something I do every day thus adjusting a bit of it did not take very long.

3. A way to get more people to change their habit is to not expect them to make an instant change in their way of life.  Some things take tome and in an article by James Clear, he states that building a new habit takes 21 days minimum but 66 days on average (1).

  1. I enjoyed how you are applying this habit of taking navy showers to when you are planning to go and join the military and having to take navy showers pretty much every day.

  2. It is very interesting that you decreased your shower time. Reducing your water usage is good for the environment, I commend you on taking shorter showers because I know that it would be very difficult for me.
